Common questions about our youth wrestling program
Wrestlers need wrestling shoes, a singlet (provided by the club with a $75 refundable deposit), and appropriate athletic wear for practice. Headgear is recommended but not required for youth wrestlers. Knee pads are optional but can provide extra protection during practice.
No experience is necessary! Our program is designed to teach wrestling fundamentals to beginners in a fun, supportive environment. Our experienced coaches work with wrestlers at all skill levels, from first-timers to experienced competitors.
Registration is $10 per wrestler with a $20 maximum per family. There is also a $75 refundable deposit for each singlet, which is returned when the singlet is turned in at the end of the season. Additional costs may include tournament entry fees and a USA Wrestling membership card (required for most tournaments).
Practices are held twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 PM, running from December 1 through the end of March. Tournament participation is optional but encouraged. Most tournaments are held on Saturdays and last 3-5 hours depending on the number of participants.
Yes! We welcome new wrestlers throughout the season. Our coaches will work with your child to help them catch up on fundamental skills and integrate them into the program.
We understand that conflicts happen. While regular attendance helps wrestlers develop skills and build confidence, occasional absences are expected. Just let us know if your child will be missing practice.
A USA Wrestling membership card is required to compete in most wrestling tournaments. You can purchase one online at usawmembership.com. The card costs approximately $40-50 per year and includes insurance coverage for wrestling activities.
Yes! Wrestling is one of the safest youth sports when taught properly. Our coaches emphasize proper technique, safe training practices, and supervised drilling. We focus on teaching fundamental movements and ensuring all wrestlers learn in a controlled, supportive environment.
